Located at 1394 Stony Brook Road, Stony Brook, NY 17790 Founded in 1985 by Dr. Rivcka Edelstein, The Awareness Center has grown and diversified to provide therapeutic, mediation, teaching, and training services to individuals, couples, families, groups, schools, institutions, and the community.
Therapeutic Services:
The Awareness Center offer counseling to individuals, couples, families,
groups, and agencies. We emphasize and encourage the individual and group
growth toward personal and interpersonal goals and potentials. Our clients
face issues of anxiety, depression , post traumatic stress, domestic violence,
conduct disorder, bereavement, weight control, problematic relationships,
and academic/vocational struggles.

Our Mediation Services Include:
Family mediation: To enable family members to function together effectively, reach constructive resolutions to their conflicts, and to attain their common goals. We also offer supervised visitations to facilitate the process of reuniting parents and children and mediate other reuniting family members.
Small Business Mediation: To facilitate effective job operation, increased productivity, and heighten personal satisfaction and growth. The mediator and the company staff address the issues of ongoing cooperation, constructive communication skills, and incentive driven motivation. Mediation is the preferred alternative to conflict resolutions between colleagues as well as between managerial and line staff.
School Mediation: To resolve conflicts between school staff, parents and teachers, teachers and students, and peers.
Divorce Mediation: To mediate between couples who wish to separate, or if already separated, to reach mutually beneficial agreements, an amicable and dignified process, on issues that affect their futures, and the futures of their children.
In our mediation services we offer a free consultation session to enable the client to learn about the process, our policies and fees, and to ask questions.

From the Long Island Expressway take exit 62 (Nichols Road) North to Route 347 (Nesconset Highway). Turn left (west) and travel to the first signal light (Stony Brook Road). Turn right on Stony Brook Road (landmarks include a Hess Gas Station and Jer Restaurant). Awareness is located approximately three quarters of a mile north of Route 347.
From the East or West, take route 347 (Nesconset Highway) to Stony Brook Road (one signal west of Nichols Road; two signals east of Smithhaven Mall). Turn north on Stony Brook Road. Awareness is located approximately three-quaters of a mile north of Route 347.

the North, Awareness is located one half mile south of the Stony Brook
Road entrance to the SUNY campus.
